we use the formula of the areaq of a trapezoid

[tex]A=\frac{(b1+b2)\times h}{2}[/tex]

then replacing

[tex]\begin{gathered} A=\frac{(3.5+6.5)\times8.4}{2} \\ \\ A=\frac{10\times8.4}{2} \\ \\ A=\frac{84}{2}=42 \end{gathered}[/tex]

area of the trapezoid is 42 square centimeters
