The sum of 4 consecutive integers is 354.
What is the second number in this sequence?

lets form an equation and associate values to each unknown

so, the first number can be 'n' and the second number can be 'n + 1' etc etc

now we have:

n + n + 1 + n + 2 + n + 3 = 354

4n + 6 = 354

subtract 6 from both sides:

4n = 348

divide both sides by 4:

n = 87

thus, the second number would be 88
