Briefly describe the process of protein synthesis and modification in a eukaryotic cell, from the ER to exiting via the plasma membrane. Include information on what happens to the protein as well as which organelles are involved.

Protein synthesis allows cells to make proteins and it is made up of two vital processes which are transcription and translation.

  • Protein synthesis simply means when protein molecules are created. Protein synthesis enables the cells to make protein. Protein synthesis takes place in the ribosomes.

  • Eukaryotic cells are the cells that have a defined nucleus. There is also a nuclear membrane which surrounds the nucleus. The addition of acetyl, methyl band phosphate can lead to the modification of proteins.

In conclusion, it should be noted that transcription in eukaryotic cells takes place in the nucleus.
